Where can a writer of speculative fiction find grants? What about workshops and meeting other writers and exchanging ideas about speculative fiction? How can we promote literary quality in the speculative fiction field? It was with these questions in mind that Mary Anne Mohanraj founded the Speculative Literature Foundation in 2004.
Since then, Mary Anne and a team of dedicated volunteers have built the SLF into an exceptional resource for promising new writers, established writers, readers, editors, and small presses everywhere. We offer grants and awards; we organize a mentorship program to bring together beginning and more experienced writers; we host a forum for discussion of all things speculative; and we will soon be opening up a classifieds section on the web site where readers, writers and editors of speculative fiction can exchange all sorts of goods and services and information.
How do we manage all this? With donations! You can help us keep the SLF alive and well with your contribution. Any amount helps. Even $5 helps us grow and continue to offer resources to the speculative literature community. If you donate $30 or more you can become a member, with all the concomitant benefits. And everyone who donates during the month of November will be entered in a drawing to receive fun prizes ranging from buttons to eclectic speculative literature.
Donating will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling, and is easy: just click over to Membership Info.
All donations to our foundation (including membership fees) are tax-exempt.
